World Refugee Day Kick-Off Event
Past Event ....... June 20th, 2008 — 15:00
Friday, June 20, 3-4:30 p.m. in Callahan Hall, World Refugee Day will be launched by a keynote address by Somali refugee Khadra Jama, a dance demonstration by a group of Somali Bantu dancers, student poetry readings, and more. Free.
At 4:30 p.m., the festivities will move outside to nearby Kennedy Park with more music, dancing and food offered by a variety of Maine’s newest immigrant communities.
World Refugee Day Maine 2008 is a collaboration between the cities of Lewiston and Portland and a broad coalition of nonprofit groups and business sponsors. For more information: 513-3130 ext. 3260.
