Kill-a-WattCard-holders may borrow free, simple-to-use electricity monitors from Lewiston Public Library through the Efficiency Maine program, a state-wide initiative of the Maine Public Utilities Commission. All you need to do is plug this small device into an electrical outlet and then plug an appliance into the device to obtain a reading on how many kilowatt hours the appliance is drawing.Use one of LPL’s online Energy Use Calculators. to help in figuring the energy use. In addition to the monitor, educational literature on ways to save energy will be provided for members to keep.
