Contra Dance

Friday, August 14, 8-11 p.m. in Callahan Hall, a contra dance featuring guitarist John Cote with rising-star fiddlers Hannah Rodrigue, Becca Grube & Emily Scalisi, and special guest caller Ted Steele from Missouri (pictured at left). Admission: a bargain at only $2 for students, $5 others. No experience required; all dances are taught and beginners are very welcome. Come with or without a partner. For more information: 513-3050.
Further details: The Lewiston Public Library will wrap up its summer contra dance series this Friday, Aug. 14, with an evening of Celtic and French-Canadian jigs and reels performed by guitarist John Cote and fiddlers Hannah Rodrigue, Rebecca Grube and Emily Scalici. All four musicians will be arriving at LPL’s Callahan Hall fresh from a week of music-making at Maine Fiddle Camp in Montville. Leading attendees in a program of fun and easy New England contras and squares will be special guest caller Ted Steele from Missouri. The event will take place from 8 until 11 p.m and carries an admission cost of $5, or $2 for students. The library is located at 200 Lisbon Street at the corner of Pine Street in downtown Lewiston.
