Documentary Film: “Liquid Assets: The Story of Water Infrastructure”

Wednesday, May 26, 2 p.m. in the Couture Room, “Liquid Assets: The Story of Water Infrastructure,” a one-hour documentary film offering a glimpse into the hidden world beneath our city streets, with a focus on why this expanse of pipes, tunnels and vaults is critically important to daily life and to public health.
Following the presentation, which is sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn Water Pollution Control Authority, attendees will be invited to ask questions about Lewiston-Auburn’s drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems, and to discuss the water infrastructure bond proposal coming up for a public vote on June 8. This proposal, which is ballot question #5, asks voters to approve a bond that can leverage a 5:1 match from available federal funds for loans and grants to help Maine’s publicly owned utilities maintain our water infrastructure.Light refreshments will be provided at the May 26 event. Attendees are encouraged to park at either of the nearby municipal parking garages or utilize the two-hour parking meters located adjacent to Kennedy Park on Pine Street.
