Great Falls Forum: “Personal Reflections”
Past Event ....... November 18th, 2010 — 12:00 noon
Thursday, Nov. 18, 12 noon. Leon Levesque, Superintendent, Lewiston School Department will be speaking to the Great Falls Forum with his Personal Reflections on the last 12 years. During that time period, Levesque has been at the helm of the Lewiston school system, guiding our schools through the complexities of Maine’s Learning Results, federal No Child Left Behind legislation, and a seismic demographic shift in our local population. Leon’s exemplary service has been recognized by the Maine School Superintendents Association (Outstanding Leadership Award) and the Maine Commissioner of Education (Award for Outstanding Service) and he has served on numerous state- and federal-level committees. Levesque will be retiring in December of this year and this Forum session will provide the opportunity for him to reflect on the transitions and transformations that have taken place during his tenure.
Great Falls Forum programs take place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the Library’s Callahan Hall. These events are free and open to the public and no reservations are required. Participants are invited to bring their own lunch or order a gourmet sandwich or salad from Guthries Cafe (376-3344; menu at www.guthriesplace.com ) which will be delivered to the Library.
The Great Falls Forum is co-sponsored by Bates College, the Sun Journal, and LPL. For more information, call the Library’s Reference Desk at 513-3135.
