YOU too can be a Friend of LPL!
One way to help your public library serve the community more effectively is to provide your support by joining the Friends of the Lewiston Public Library. The Friends of LPL is a 501 (c) 3 support organization that raises approximately $10,000 each year to support library programs and services. Friends memberships start as low as $10 for seniors, $15 for individuals and $25 for families, however these small gifts add up to substantial support.
Yes, we are a department of the City of Lewiston and the City Council does provide the bulk of our funding, however with community needs far outweighing available resources, the City has been forced to cut support for most city departments (including the Library) over the last two years. Your support will make a difference in trying to address the major service response areas that were laid out for us in our 2009 Long Range Plan:
