Ciclovida Tour: Stories, Music, and More from Brazil

Wed, May 18 at 6:00 p.m. in Callahan Hall.  An exciting evening of stories from Antonio Rocha and music from Inácio do Nascimento. Inácio is a small farmer, musician, and Brazilian activist featured in the award-winning documentary, Ciclovida.  Antonio’s unique solo shows of stories and mime have been performed from Singapore to Hawaii and many places in between, including fourteen countries on six continents.  Both performers bring you heartfelt stories about struggle and hope in Brazil.

The Ciclovida tour is coming to Lewiston and LPL is partnering with Bates College, Lots to Gardens and Spoke Folks to bring you these entertaining and thought-provoking programs.  The Wednesday evening library performance is a teaser to the week’s main event, a showing of the film, Ciclovida, along with a discussion with the filmmakers and community activists from Brazil and Maine.  The film showing and discussion will take place on Thursday evening, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Chase Hall Lounge at Bates College.  The Ciclovida folk will also be presenting a Pedal-Powered Electricity Generator workshop on Thursday afternoon, May 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Chase Hall Lounge.  All Ciclovida events are free and open to the public.
