“Look under your bed, behind the couch, down beside the seat in the car—wherever! You aren’t going to find a deal like this very often.” Lewiston Public Library has declared the week of May 9th – 14th Food Not Fines Week, part of a statewide fine-amnesty-food-drive coordinated by the Maine State Library. During this week patrons who return their overdue library items will have current and past fines* excused in exchange for donations of non-perishable food. Each canned or boxed item will be worth $2 toward payment of fines. Those food donations will be redistributed to the Trinity Jubilee Center Food Pantry.
* not including item replacement charges.
