The Rehearsal — documentary film screening
Past Event ....... May 27th, 2011 — 12:00 noon
Friday, May 27 at 12 noon in Callahan Hall. Showing of The Rehearsal: one week before Inspired Voices 2010, winner of the MPBN Director’s Award for the “Best Maine Film” in last month’s L/A Film Festival. This documentary by acclaimed Lewiston filmmaker Craig Saddlemire (round point movies) looks at the behind-the-scenes preparation of four performers, one week before their big show entitled “Inspired Voices.” Each of these performers has received mental health support in their lives and through performance, each is able to publicly share their story of recovery and demonstrate the power of art to connect, heal and inspire.
LPL is presenting The Rehearsal in partnership with Tri-County Mental Health Services as they prepare for their 2011 Inspired Voices event on June 25. The showing is free but donations will be accepted at the door to benefit local mental health services. For more information on Inspired Voices, contact Tri-County at 783-9141, ext. 158; for more details on the Library film screening, call our Referernce Desk at 513-3135.
