Androscoggin Irish: Merchants & Businessmen

John Henderson will be delivering a lecture entitled, Androscoggin Irish: Merchants & Businessmen, in the Library’s Callahan Hall on Thursday, Sept 29th at 7:00 p.m. This is the fifth and final presentation in a five part series on the historic Irish-American community in Lewiston/ Auburn. (The previous four lectures where given at other venues.) Merchants and Businessmen will identify Irish and Irish-American businessmen on Lisbon and Main Streets, along with the buildings they had constructed and occupied.
The Library is co-sponsoring this program with the Androscoggin Historical Society. John Henderson is the author of the recently-published book, Androscoggin Irish, which outlines major personalities, places, and events in L/A Irish history. The lecture series is addressing major topics of interest to those working on family history, local history, or all things Irish. He also illustrated the book with more than thirty color drawings of buildings associated with the Irish community, and 11 maps of sites and neighborhoods connected with them.
