World Book Night – Calling all Book Lovers!

Want to give the gift of books? For FREE?
Apply now to be a World Book Night book giver at Lewiston Public Library!
World Book Night is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person. Each year on April 23, tens of thousands of people go out into their communities and give half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to light and non-readers.
This year, LPL is excited to be a participating site, which means that book givers will be able to hand out books at the library on April 23, 2013.
What does a book giver do?
- Sign up by January 25! It only takes a few minutes.
- Choose your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd book choice (try to pick books you’ve enjoyed!) from a list of 30 official World Book Night titles.
- Attend a volunteer celebration the week of April 15th.
- On April 23, along with other volunteers, hand out 20 (free!) copies of your assigned book to members of the community, right here in Callahan Hall.
That’s it! World Book Night is an opportunity to help create new lifelong readers. But we can’t do it without the help of enthusiastic volunteers ready to share their love of reading with other members of the community.
For questions or more information, please see the official World Book Night website or contact the Lewiston Public Library’s Adult Services Department at 513-3135 or LPLReference@lewistonmaine.gov.
