Let’s Talk About It!

flagLPL is hosting a monthly reading and discussion series on the literature of Cuba as part of the “Let’s Talk About It” program sponsored by the Maine Humanities Council’s Maine Center for the Book in cooperation with the Maine State Library. The local co-sponsor is the Friends of LPL, a non-profit membership organization.

“Exploring ideas and issues through literature has always been exciting and fun,” said Lizz Sinclair, director of “Let’s Talk About It.” “We find that there is great interest among adults in getting together to discuss what they’ve read with others. Having a knowledgeable discussion leader who is both excited about the readings and skilled in facilitating can help to deepen this experience.” Bowdoin College History and Latin American Studies Professor Allen Wells is leading the LPL series, which began on September 15 and will continue monthly for five sessions through next January.

The 25 available participant spaces quickly filled, according to LPL director Rick Speer.
