E-books and tablets are growing in popularity and devices are widely available with many different types from which to choose. For the purpose of providing hands-on familiarization and training with e-readers and tablets, the Maine State Library created a “Technology Petting Zoo” of devices. The Lewiston Public Library will be offering two drop-in events for members of the public who wish to learn more about and try these devices.

The petting zoo will include an assortment of popular current e-readers and tablets: Nook SimpleTouch, Nook HD+, Kindle Fire, Kindle PaperWhite, Apple iPad Mini, and Google Nexus.

The sessions will take place on Saturday, December 13th from 10 AM – 12 PM and Tuesday, December 16th from 5 PM – 7 PM in the 1st floor Jeanne Couture Room. Librarians will be available to provide assistance and answer any questions on the technology as well as information on checking out e-books, digital audiobooks, and e-readers from the library.

Both sessions are free and open to the public. For more details, contact the library at LPLReference@LewistonMaine.gov or 207-513-3135.
