On Thurs. evening, Sept. 29th at 6:00 p.m., LPL will be hosting local author Catherine Bergeron-Bergeron for a talk and slide presentation on her recently published book, Our Place in Line: a Franco-American Family Odyssey. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A along with a book sale and signing.

Our Place in Line offers a unique exploration of French immigration to North America and the subsequent history of French Canada and Franco-American immigration to Maine and the other New England states. The book also details the histories of the author’s family who came to settle in the manufacturing and farming communities of greater Lewiston-Auburn.

Bergeron-Bergeron has been an avid collector of ancestral photos and anecdotal lore which she liberally included throughout her new work. Her heritage is one familiar to all Franco-Americans and includes elements applicable to other ethnic immigrants as they seek their niche within the American culture.

Catherine was a reporter for the Lewiston Daily Sun and the Evening Journal during her college years in the 1970’s. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Northeastern University College of Journalism, where she included every history course she could into her schedule.
