Great Falls Forum with Nancy McBrady

May 18, 2017— 12:00 pm

Our May Great Falls Forum program will feature the Executive Director of the Maine Wild Blueberry Commission, Nancy McBrady, with a talk entitled, Wild Blue Yonder–Understanding Maine’s Wild Blueberry Heritage, Industry and Economy. The program will take place in LPL’s Callahan Hall on Thurs., May 18th at 12:00 noon.

McBrady, a Lewiston native and LHS graduate, was a management consultant in Chicago before returning to Maine to attend the University of Maine School of Law.  She practiced environmental law in Portland for 7 years prior to joining the Commission in 2014.

Nancy’s talk will cover the history and growth of the Maine wild blueberry industry, as well as the current challenges that are faced. She will be answer questions about what is a wild blueberry, where and how they are grown and harvested, the size of the crop and our industry, economic impact, and advances in wild blueberry health research that have fueled consumer demand.

The Great Falls Forum is a monthly, brown-bag speaker series featuring statewide and regional leaders in public policy, business, academia and the arts. The programs are free, open to all and no reservations are required. Coffee, tea and bottled water are provided for a donation at the event. The Forum is a co-sponsorship of the Sun Journal, Bates College and LPL.
