Growing Cooperative Housing in Lewiston

On Wed., Jan. 14, at 6:00 p.m. in LPL’s Callahan Hall we will be hosting a public forum on cooperative housing and the new Raise-Op Housing Cooperative.

The founders of Maine’s only urban affordable housing cooperative will be presenting on their latest effort, the Raise-Op Housing Cooperative.  This public forum will include a brief history of the cooperative movement in Maine, an explanation of how cooperative housing works, and a vision for how cooperative housing can be used to improve living conditions for downtown residents of Lewiston-Auburn.

Presenters at the Jan 14 forum will include Brenda Akers (Raise-Op Vice President), Habiba Mohammed (Raise-Op Treasurer), and Craig Saddlemire (Co-Founder of Lewiston’s First Housing Cooperative).

The presentation will include time for questions and discussion, as well as the opportunity for attendees to complete applications for prospective membership.  The event is free and open to the public.
