“LegoLandia” lives in Lewiston!

Emma and John Auer of Lewiston are 13-year old twins, but they’ve already built a city. A Lego city that is. Their enthusiasm for Lego toys, or “the brick” as it’s known in Lego circles, is the basis for the latest fundraiser for Pettingill School Park. The brother and sister team are rallying their young friends to help raise money for the park, culminating in an event on December 30 and 31 at the Lewiston Public Library called “LegoLandia.”

When Emma and John moved to Lewiston a short time ago they brought their Lego city along with them. Their creations ranged from cityscapes to haunted houses and log cabins. Their most recent design is a replica of Pettingill School Park. Everything will be on display at the LegoLandia event as part of a self-guided tour. Other activities will include a Lego building play space, food sales, and showings of “The Lego Movie” and a documentary “Love of the Brick” about adult fans of Lego.

A unique exhibit piece, a Lego-built Maine camp, will be awarded at the conclusion of the event to the child whose family and friends raise the most money over $100. A special account has been set up on the “GoFundMe” web site for the purpose of fundraising. Individuals should acknowledge on the site which young person receives credit for the donation.

The entry fee for LegoLandia is $5 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The twins, who are being assisted by their mother Anne Auer, would like to raise as much money as possible for the park which is being funded almost entirely by private citizens and organizations. Come to Callahan Hall on the third floor of the Lewiston Public Library between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on either day to celebrate “the brick” and help build the city’s newest community park.

For additional information please contact Anne Auer at halfauer@gmail.com. If you know a young person who would like to participate in the challenge, please contact Anne. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance, and make great stocking stuffers. For updates, visit the Friends of Pettingill Facebook page.

The entry fee is $5 per person.  The event will take place on the third floor of the library in Callahan Hall on Tuesday, December 30 and Wednesday, December 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
