Teen Yoga
Teens at the Lewiston Public Library are invited to join in a 6 week yoga series with teacher Katie! Classes will be held Wednesdays 3:30-4:30pm in the 3rd floor Callahan Hall and 2nd floor IDEA Lab on alternating weeks. We will focus on simple breathing and mindfulness techniques as well as gentle movement.
This series is designed to support teens in building skills they can use to relax, manage stress and connect with each other. Light healthy snacks and drinks will also be provided. All are welcome and no prior experience with yoga is needed! We will all be learning, breathing and moving together.

Katie B. has been a student of yoga since 2010. She has found the practice of yoga to be truly transformative and healing and, in hopes of sharing this with others, completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2019 with Lila East End studio. Her teaching is influenced by the principles of trauma-informed care and the belief that yoga is for everybody. She is passionate about doing her part to make yoga more accessible to all bodies and available in community settings outside the typical yoga studio.
In her daily life’s work, Katie is a clinical social worker and has spent over a decade working in the nonprofit field. She has had the privilege to work with people experiencing homelessness for many years and currently works in the Lewiston Public School district. She is grateful for the opportunities where her love of social work and yoga can coincide and has enjoyed teaching a variety of community classes and yoga offerings for teens. Katie also joined the teaching team at Sea Change Yoga in 2022. In her free moments, she is an avid reader and long distance runner, and loves traveling, exploring new places, and spending as much time outside as possible.
