2024 Tax Information

Lewiston Public Library has paper tax forms and instructions for the federal 1040 and 1040-SR to give away free of charge. Please ask for them at a service desk on the Library’s first or second floor. (Sorry, the Library is not able to mail out tax forms.)

The library does not have other paper tax forms or instructions to give away. This includes state tax forms. The State of Maine no longer sends paper tax forms or instructions to libraries.

To get paper tax forms we don’t have

  • Request them directly (free of charge):
  • Print them yourself
    • For federal forms and instructions, visit the Forms, Publications, and Instructions page on the IRS website.
    • For State of Maine individual income tax forms and instructions, visit the Individual Income Tax Forms page on the Maine Revenue Services website.
      • The form that most people need is the individual income tax form, 1040 ME.
      • To apply for the Maine Property Tax Fairness (aka “Rent Rebate”) credit, file Form 1040ME and Schedule PTFC/STFC for the tax year during which the property tax or rent was paid.
    • For other State of Maine tax forms, visit the Tax Return Forms page on the Maine Revenue Services website.
