What’s in the Androscoggin? This was one of the infamous rivers that inspired the Clean Water Act of 1972–it killed so many fish and smelled so bad, rumor has it people threw up as they crossed bridges over it! How is the river doing today? Come learn how to test the water quality using chemistry.

Bethany Laursen is a former Maine chemistry teacher, water quality monitor and outdoor educator who recently finished her M.S. in Environment & Resources and Forestry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bethany will lead students through the chemistry process and be available to answer questions about careers in science and environmental policy.

Snacks will be provided!
