Reading is for ALL

Reading exercises our brains, improves our concentration, teaches us, entertains us and relaxes us. Most importantly, perhaps, reading is a key to independence. Being able to read food labels, medication labels, bills, and newspapers are all daily tasks that require reading. On Thursday, June 5, The Lewiston Public Library is teaming up with The Iris Network and the Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DBVI) to provide a day of Reading for ALL in Callahan Hall. From 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., vision professionals will be available to show you a wide range of options to read. From no-tech to hi-tech, bring your curiosity and your questions and put aside any fear that you have with respect to your vision.

The purpose of Reading for ALL is to get the word out that options exist to help you to continue or resume reading and enjoying print. Launched in April of 2013, the vision-day program partners vision professionals with libraries to reach a wide demographic – old to young and some vision loss to complete vision loss.
