Highlights:
- Great Falls Forum with Rose Barboza and Genius Black: The 2020-2021 season of the Great Falls Forum continues on Thursday, March 18, featuring Rose Barboza and Genius Black, Co-Directors of Black Owned Maine and Co-Owners of Black Owned Maine Media, on the topic “A Rationale to Support Black Business in Maine.” The program will take place from 12 noon to 1 PM virtually via Zoom and streamed to the Lewiston Public Library Facebook page. - Virtual Babytime & Storytime: Join Ms. Jackie on Tuesdays at 10:30am for our VIRTUAL weekly combo of Babytime & Preschool Storytime: a fun, interactive activity for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers that helps introduce children to the world of books, learning, and the library. Early literacy concepts such as print awareness and phonics will be introduced to parents and children as we enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays, and more. Siblings are always welcome. This weekly program will take place via Zoom – to register, please call or email the Children’s Department at 207-513-3133 or lplkids@lewistonmaine.gov
- Book Chat: Join LPL staff for a conversation about what we’re reading, watching, and listening to on Facebook Live. Our next book chat is coming up on Tuesday, March 16th at 11:30am. Join us to hear about some of our favorite adult fantasy titles.
- Art Van: Thanks to a generous grant from the Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation, we are so excited to be able to welcome back ArtVan to the Children’s Department through take & make art kits called ArtBags! You can pick up your very own ArtBag when you schedule a browsing appointment in the Children’s Department or via LPL To Go. No library card required. - Read Your Mind with Ceylan Scott & Julia Drake: Read Your Mind is a monthly, virtual series focusing on teen mental health & wellness. Featuring YA authors and community health experts, we hope to explore complex and common health concerns through the vehicle of Teen books. In March we will host authors Ceylan Scott & Julia Drake to discuss self-harm behaviors, the influence of guilt and loss, and honest portrayals of hospitalization experiences. Our community partner for this is event is NAMI Maine. The program will take place on Wednesday, March 31st at 12 noon virtually via Zoom and streamed to the Lewiston Public Library Facebook page. LPL To Go is now appointment free! We have made a slight change to process and appointments are no longer required for hold pick-up. Simply call the Lending desk at (207) 513-3134 when you arrive and staff will check out your items and meet you at the door.
