What’s New?
- This week’s Summer Reading theme is “Shark Week.” Join in our jaw-some activities for shark week in the Children’s Department! Make a fin-tastic shark glider, put together some shark-tastic puzzles and play the shark bite game if you dare.
- NaNoWriMo Young Writers Program. Do you have a young writer at home? We have a goodie bag for them! In celebration of Camp NaNoWriMo, the virtual writing camp for all ages, we have fun writing kits available to help young writers feel inspired.
- New Display: Bite-Sized Books. Check out these SHORT and SWEET reads with our display of Bite-sized Books! Most of these titles are under 200 pages (and some are under 100!) so if you’re looking for a quick weekend read or you need to get ahead on your Summer Reading, check out this display on the 1st Floor!
- Summer Reading is for Everyone! This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities, and the program will run until August 13, with events and reading programs for children, teens, and adults.
This Week at LPL
- The First Amendment: 21st Century Edition, Monday, July 18th at 5:30pm. In the changing political and cultural climate, it is not always clear what actions and statements are protected and which are considered censorship, hate speech, or illegal gatherings and forms of redress.
- Mr. Drew and His Animals, Too, Wednesday, July 20th at 5:30pm. Join us at Kennedy Park to see the amazing Mr. Drew and several exotic reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates from around the world!
- Teen Tabletop RPGs, Thursday, July 21st at 4pm. This week we will be playing Dinosaur Princesses, a collaborative one-shot game for players of all levels of roleplaying experience. All supplies will be provided – just bring yourself and your creative mind!
- Shark Attack! with Ms. Sara, Saturday, July 23 at 11am. Shark Attack is a fun-filled, fin-tastic program where we will learn about different sharks and their sizes, play a feed the shark game, create a shark origami bookmark, and enjoy a shark bait snack.
Next Week at LPL
- Great Tentacles! Cephalopod STEAM, Wednesday, July 27th at 4pm. Join Ms. Ivy for this fun, interactive program where we use games, crafts, and creative STEAM activities to learn all about the amazing cephalopods: octopus, squid, nautilus, and cuttlefish.
- Art Walk and Book Sale, Friday, July 29th at 5pm. The library is hosting local Fine Art Photographer Norma Warden as part of Art Walk. The Library will also hold a book sale benefiting the Friends of the Lewiston Public Library during Artwalk.
- Magnificent Monster Circus, Saturday, July 30th at 11am. Join us for a this colorful, silly, multi-sensory circus show full of friendly puppet monsters where kids can lend a hand to Eustice the Unicycling Unimonster, make friends with a Fiery Fanged Worm, cheer for Agnes the many-legged Acropod, and more.
