LPL Newsletter 7/8/2024

What’s New?
  • Self-Checkout at LPL! Our self-checkout station is up and running.  Patrons can now check out books themselves at the kiosk by the lending desk.  Come visit us to give it a try!
  • Seeking Volunteer Readers. Volunteer readers are matched through the library with local daycares and they provide a fun story time with new library storybooks every week!
  • Preschool Playdate. Starting in July, Preschool Playdates will only be taking place on Saturdays.
  • Interlibrary Loan Temporarily Suspended. Due to an issue with our contracted book delivery service, the Maine State Library has made the decision to turn off materials requesting between libraries beginning last week, which means that no new holds can be placed and existing holds will not be fulfilled.

This Week @ LPL
  • Mini Nature Notebooks, Wednesday, July 10th at 3:30pm. During this program, kids will be provided with the materials to create their own mini nature notebook using a simple bookbinding technique.
  • Terracotta Lighthouse Craft, Wednesday, July 10th at 5pm. Registration is full.
  • Showtime Steve, Saturday, July 13th at 11am. Come and see Steve juggle everything from shoes and car-keys to machetes and balloons. He will dazzle the room with his 100-year-old Houdini rope escape, fit his entire body through a folding chair, manipulate LED light props in the dark, and balance a ladder (and other dangerous items) on his chin.

Next Week @ LPL
  • Teen Button Making, Thursday, July 18th at 4pm. Our self-serve button making station is available for all teens, grab a backing, a cool design, and bring it all together to make something great!
