What’s New? 
  • Action Films in August. From classic blockbusters to hidden gems, there’s something for every adrenaline junkie. Explore intense fight scenes, epic chases, and edge-of-your-seat thrills from around the globe. Free to stream with your Lewiston Public Library card!
  • Butterfly Display on 3rd Floor. This August join us in celebrating butterflies! Our Painted Lady caterpillars are on their way, so keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram accounts for posts announcing their arrival.
  • Interlibrary Loan Temporarily Suspended. Due to an issue with our contracted book delivery service, the Maine State Library has made the decision to turn off materials requesting between libraries.

 

This Week @ LPL
  • Butterfly Windchimes, Wednesday, August 7th at 3:30pm. During this program, kids will be provided with the materials to decorate and assemble a butterfly windchime to take home. 
  • Book Art Craft, Wednesday, August 7th at 5:30pm. We will be turning old paperback books into 3-D apples. All supplies will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own paint smocks or aprons. This event is open to teens and adults. 

 

Next Week @ LPL
  • Mr. Drew and His Animals Too, Wednesday, August 14th at 5:30pm. This animal performance is free, open to the public, and no registration is required.
  • Teen Button Making, Thursday, August 1st at 4pm. Our self-serve button making station is available for all teens, grab a backing, a cool design, and bring it all together to make something great!
  • Little Keepsakes Butterfly Pendants, Friday, August 16th at 10am. Caregivers will be able to create a keepsake clay butterfly pendant with their young children using their fingerprints. The activity is designed for caregivers with children between the ages of birth-6yrs.
  • Chewonki’s Bugmobile, Saturday, August 17th at 11am. Using models, costumes, and live specimens, they will explain the unique characteristics of four major groups of arthropods. Their live “bug” species will introduce you to some of the fascinating adaptations essential for survival, such as mimicry, camouflage, armor, and the use of venom.
