Online and Interlibrary Loan Requests Policy
LEWISTON PUBLIC LIBRARY POLICY
ONLINE AND INTERLIBRARY LOAN REQUESTS
The Lewiston Public Library shall be an active member of the Minerva consortium and the Maine InfoNet system and work through both to improve access to books, other library materials, and electronic information in all formats for LPL cardholders. All LPL cardholders in good standing will be able to utilize the Minerva and Maine InfoNet online catalogs to request materials for their use and LPL staff will maintain procedures to make use of both online computer systems to efficiently retrieve these materials in a timely manner.
Library cardholders may request materials and information not available through the Minerva and Maine InfoNet systems; however, due to the extra staff time and expense required to retrieve these materials, a fee of $10.00 will be charged for each out-of-system request.
Due to the amount of staff time required to process all requests (both in-system and out-of-system), when cardholders request items and fail to pick them up at the Library after being notified of their arrival, a $2.00 fee will be charged to their account. Cardholders will be given at least 5 business days to pick up the item after being notified.
