- Sep 13, 2022
The Third Place Inc. will host its first BIPOC Nonprofit & Business Mini Expo Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the Lewiston Public Library, Callahan Hall. This mini expo is an opportunity for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to connect directly to organizations specifically designed to meet their cultural needs. The evening will feature talks from three organizational founders who are working to address gaps in Maine’s Black cultural infrastructure and resources, information stations with representatives of organizations serving the BIPOC community, food from local BIPOC-owned businesses, and music. This evening is free and open to the public.
Speakers include:
- Michael Gizaachew, a 2022 cohort resident at the Roux Institute and CEO of EthioPay – an app–based platform that makes it easier for people to send cash instantly to mobile money accounts.
- Adilah Muhammad, founder and Executive Director of The Third Place Inc. – a statewide network of professionals, community leaders and entrepreneurs of African descent working to create and connect Maine’s Black cultural infrastructure.
- Amran Osman, Executive Director of Generational Noor — an organization providing support in de-stigmatizing substance abuse, mental health, alcoholism, and drug abuse in immigrant households.
