Legends of the Sky From Around the World

The Lewiston Public Library will be hosting Northern Star Planetarium in Callahan Hall on Tuesday, July 30th at 5:30PM for all ages.

Legends of the sky from around the world are told live under the stars inside the planetarium. Hear stories from Australian Aborigines, Inuit, African Tribes, Japan, India and the rainforests of South America.

This program is free and open to the public.

Registration is required as there are only 45 available spots. To register please contact the Children’s Department at 513-3133 or LPLKids@lewistonmaine.gov. If all of the spots are filled you may request to be put on the waiting list.

Participation in this drop-in event counts towards the Library’s Summer Reading program.

The 2024 Summer Reading program at Lewiston Public Library runs from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 17th with the theme of Read, Make, and Explore.

We are encouraging participants not only to read or listen to books but also make a new craft or recipe or explore a favorite place in our beautiful city or a new landmark in our wondrous state.

Northern Stars Planetarium is a fully equipped inflatable star theater that comes directly to your school. John Meader, the owner and educator, offers more than 25 different planetarium shows on various astronomical topics, earth and life sciences, as well as live storytelling. Shows are designed to match learning standards for grades pre-K through 8. Northern Stars has been bringing the stars to more than 15,000 Maine students each year since 1987.

The Lewiston Public Library is located downtown at 200 Lisbon Street at the corner of Pine Street. More information on summer reading programs is available by contacting the Lewiston Public Library at 513-3133 or LPLKids@lewistonmaine.gov.
