Books, Magazines & Newspapers

There are a number of ways to search through our books. Use the standard library catalog or our mobile catalog. You can check out our Read-Alike service (NoveList) with your library card. Check out our newest purchases (or see the gray box on the right) or have us send them to your email.

We have many popular and local newspapers such as the Sun Journal, Portland Press Herald, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc. With the exception of the Sun Journal, all newspapers are kept for three months before being discarded.

Sun Journal

sun journalWe do not discard the Sun Journal, as we are the only source for the print edition of this newspaper. Paper copies are kept until we receive the microfilm version. Complete coverage of the Sun Journal, Lewiston Evening Journal, and Lewiston Sun is available on microfilm from the foundation of the newspaper. For more information, please see our Lewiston History page.

We have about 200 magazines, including two years of back issues for each. Back issues for a few, such as Time and National Geographic are kept indefinitely. Consumer Reports is always popular: we offer the print edition as well as free access to the online copies with your library card. You can search Consumer Reports here.
