On Thursday, May 19 at 12 noon in LPL’s Callahan Hall Gene Geiger, Chair of the L/A Joint Charter Commission will be providing a public “Report Out” on the Commission’s work to-date and their plans for the next several months. A Question-and-Answer session will take place at the conclusion of this free, public event.

The Lewiston Auburn Joint Charter Commission has been hard at work for over a year and they are entering the final phases of their task. Among other steps taken, they have released a draft charter document and an outline look at the new charter and at how it compares with the current Auburn and Lewiston charters. In addition, they have hired a consulting group to help them work through the final details necessary before presenting the new joint charter to the voters of both cities. This public vote could happen as early as November of this year or may not take place until sometime in 2017.

The Great Falls Forum is a monthly, brown-bag speaker series featuring statewide and regional leaders in public policy, business, academia and the arts. The programs are free, open to all and no reservations are required. Coffee, tea and bottled water are provided for a donation at the event. The Forum is a co-sponsorship of the Sun Journal, Bates Collegeand LPL.
