Highlights:

Banned Books Week is September 27 – October 3. Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information.

Announcing: Kids’ Book Boxes! For the months of September through December LPL Kids will be offering the opportunity to sign up and receive a special package in the mail that includes FREE books and activities (to keep!) surrounding a monthly theme.September’s theme is Water Protectors! To sign up for a September box email us at  lplkids@lewistonmaine.gov or call during business hours at (207) 513-3133.

The 2020-2021 season of the Great Falls Forum continues on Thursday, October 15th, featuring Dr. Emmanuel Kayembe, Fellow for Franco-American Studies at the University of Southern Maine, with a talk entitled “Francophonie, Immigration, Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Identities in the USA.”

Ms. Jackie is back! Join us for our VIRTUAL weekly combo of Babytime & Preschool Storytime: a fun, interactive activity for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers that helps introduce children to the world of books, learning, and the library. This weekly program will take place via Zoom – to register, please call or email the Children’s Department at 207-513-3133 or lplkids@lewistonmaine.gov.

Teens and young adults from ages 13-23 are invited to join the “Stamped” Teen Discussion Project based on Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.  Fill out the form to sign up or contact Harper at hchance@lewistonmaine.gov for more information.

Lewiston Public Library is now offering some library services inside the building! Learn more about computer services and children’s room visits at LPL by Appointment.
