October 19, 2020 Lewiston Public Library Weekly Newsletter: Local Writers Read - Fragments, Preschool Take & Make Kits, Horror & Mystery Book Chat

Highlights:

LPL is a co-sponsor of Local Writers Read, a literary reading series based in Lewiston, Maine. The series features free themed monthly readings from Maine writers of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. October’s LWR event has the theme of Fragments and will be streaming live on Facebook on Friday, October 23rd at 6:00 pm and Saturday October, 24th at 3:00 pm. Included in the October lineup will be mystery writer Julia Spencer-Fleming. Full details about the event and this month’s featured writers can be found on Facebook.

LPL Kids is excited to offer Take & Make kits designed for preschool ages! These kits will include activities for young children who are working on fine motor skills, scissor skills, ABC’s, 123’s, shapes, colors, and more! For October we’ve cooked up a kit with a pumpkin theme, so get ready to craft and rhyme together! To request a kit please email us at LPLKids@LewistonMaine.gov or call (207) 513-3133. 

The October LPL Kids’ Book Boxes are almost ready! Sign up now if you’d like to have our October Book Box delivered to your home — with two books and activities that you get to keep! Join LPL staff for Book Chat: a conversation about what we’re reading, watching, and listening to on Facebook Live.Make suggestions, share your thoughts, find resources, and get personalized recommendations from our librarians! Come to our next Book Chat on Tuesday, October 20th at 11:30am to talk about some of our favorite Horror & Mystery titles!
