Highlights:

  • Announcing LPL Kids Nature Backpacks! Check out Nature with our new Nature Backpacks! Borrow one of 3 themed packs loaded up with books, tools, and activities that will help you get outside and get hands on with nature! From your own yard or local par to one of Maine’s State Parks or hiking trails, these packs will help you explore and learn all about what you see and discover. Themes available are Birds, Wildlife, and Plants.   • Relation-Ship-It Teen Book Group: Relation-Ship-It is a book group for teenagers where we discuss LGBTQ+ relationships through Young Adult Fiction.Relation-Ship-It focuses on a new book each month with two virtual meetings per month on Zoom and an opportunity for in-between discussion on Discord. The group meets on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the Month at 3pm and is open to any interested teen. New copies of each book will be provided free of charge to participating teens.   • “Humble Responders to Harm” Teen Workshop with Maine Inside Out: Teens and young adults from the Lewiston-Auburn community are invited to join Maine Inside Out and Lewiston Public Library for an interactive workshop and conversation about transformative justice. How do we respond to harm and conflict in a world without prisons? What is true justice? How would you transform your community? We want to hear from you! The workshop will take place via Zoom on Monday, April 26th from 3-4:30PM. All youth who attend the event will receive a FREE Maine Inside Out T-shirt and are invited to be special guests at the MIO open mic on Wednesday 4/28! Register here to attend.
  • ArtVan is back! Thanks to a generous grant from the Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation, we are so excited to be able to welcome back ArtVan to the Children’s Department through take-and-make kits called ArtBags! ArtVan will be providing us with two kinds of ArtBags each month until June. We will have a limited number and will hand them out on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can pick up your very own ArtVan ArtBag when you schedule a browsing appointment in the Children’s Department or you can pick up one via LPL To Go. To schedule a browsing appointment or a pick up, please call 207-513-3133 or email us at lplkids@lewistonmaine.gov.

Browsing is Back! LPL is once again allow inside browsing of the 1st and 2nd floors during specific hours, including Saturdays.

Children’s Room Appointments: The Lewiston Public Library Children’s Department has appointments daily.

LPL To Go is still available! Although we are now open for browsing at certain times of day, LPL To Go is still available for hold pick-up. Simply call the Lending desk at (207) 513-3134 when you arrive and staff will check out your items and meet you at the Pine Street door.
