Highlights:

  • Great Falls Forum with Jared Golden: The 2020-2021 season of the Great Falls Forum continues on Thursday, April 8, featuringfeaturing a conversation between Congressman Jared Golden and Dr. Mark Brewer, Professor of Political Science at the University of Maine, on the topic “Polarization vs. Pragmatism: A Conversation about Maine’s Second Congressional District.” The program will take place from 1-2 PM virtually via Zoom and streamed to the Lewiston Public Library Facebook page.   • National Poetry Month: Join Lewiston Public Library for a virtual poetry celebration throughout the month of April! We will be highlighting (mostly) Maine poets reading their own poetry in short videos posted on LPL’s Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages — be sure to follow along with  us!
  • April Take & Make Kits are here! This month’s Take & Make Kit celebrates Earth Month with a tree maze, color-by-letter Earth, I Spy nature printable, Earth wind catcher craft, and fun stickers! Our Take & Make kits are designed especially for kids ages 3-6 who are working on fine motor skills, scissor skills, ABC’s, 123’s, shapes, colors, and more! You can pick up a kit when you schedule a browsing appointment in the Children’s Department or via LPL To Go. No library card required. Please call 207-513-3133 or email us at LPLKIDS@lewistonmaine.gov to get your kit!
  • “Humble Responders to Harm” Teen Workshop with Maine Inside Out: Teens and young adults from the Lewiston-Auburn community are invited to join Maine Inside Out and Lewiston Public Library for an interactive workshop and conversation about transformative justice. How do we respond to harm and conflict in a world without prisons? What is true justice? How would you transform your community? We want to hear from you! The workshop will take place via Zoom on Monday, April 26th from 3-4:30PM. All youth who attend the event will receive a FREE Maine Inside Out T-shirt and are invited to be special guests at the MIO open mic on Wednesday 4/28! Register here to attend.

Browsing is Back! LPL is once again allow inside browsing of the 1st and 2nd floors during specific hours, including Saturdays.

Children’s Room Appointments: The Lewiston Public Library Children’s Department has appointments daily.

LPL To Go is still available! Although we are now open for browsing at certain times of day, LPL To Go is still available for hold pick-up. Simply call the Lending desk at (207) 513-3134 when you arrive and staff will check out your items and meet you at the Pine Street door.
