Teen Game Master Academy:
Want to get started with role-playing games, but don’t know where to begin? Enroll in our Game Master Academy! By playing a session of Monster of the Week with Game Master Gabe, students of GM Academy will strengthen their group facilitation, story telling, and environment creation abilities. Because the training focuses on social skills rather than specific game mechanics, GM Academy graduates will leave with the tools they need to run any role-playing game they would like, from Dungeons & Dragons to Lasers & Feelings. Ready to get started? Enroll online here! Spots are limited, so make sure to register to save your seat. Game Master Academy will be hosted on Thursday, July 22nd from 4-6pm our Teen Discord Server and Foundry Virtual Tabletop. GM Academy participants who are not yet Discord members will be sent server sign-up information upon registering for this program. All participants must be 13 years of age or older, and be rising middle or high school students (or equivalent).

This year’s theme is “Tails and Tales,” and the program will run from June 13-August 7, with reading programs for children, teens, and adults. Check out our website for more information and calendars. This year, children, teen, and adults are using a PASSPORT system to track reading and activities for prizes. Pick up a passport (Kids on the 3rd floor, Teen on the 2nd floor, Adult on the 1st floor — or print your own from our website using the links above), complete any 4 activities, and turn it in to be entered into prize drawings! Children and Teens also get a to choose a free book for every passport completed. All ages can complete as many passports they want during the eight weeks of summer reading. Questions? LPL is expanding access to the building
Patrons can enter the library during open blocks for in-library activities such as browsing, picking up holds, and using computers. The open blocks are:
- Monday-Thursday: 10am–1pm and 3pm – 7pm
- Fridays: 10am–1pm and 3–5pm
- Summer Saturdays: 10am–2pm
The building will be cleared at the end of each block, so patrons should plan accordingly. LPL To Go door pickup will still be offered throughout the day.
Children’s Room No Longer Requires Appointments!
The Children’s Department is now open daily during the same time slots as the rest of the building. Unvaccinated patrons ages five and up are still required to wear a mask. We have masks at the front entrance and at the Children’s Department desk for anyone who needs one. For more information call the Children’s Department at (207) 513-3133 or email LPLKids@lewistonmaine.gov.
Maine Reciprocal Borrowing is Back!
Following the pilot edition in 2019 which was cut short by the pandemic, the Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program (MRBP) has returned! This program will enable Lewiston patrons to check out items at nearly 40 libraries across Maine including Lisbon, Topsham, and even the State Library, potentially with the other participants joining soon. Starting July 1, 2021 this system allows members to use Lewiston Library cards at any MRBP locations on a walk-in basis instead of ordering items and waiting for an interlibrary loan delivery. Patrons are required to have their physical library cards to checkout and returns can be made either at the borrowing or home library. There are different types of libraries participating including public, university, health and other specializations. For more information, please contact the Lending Department at lplcirc@lewistonmaine.gov or 513-3134 or visit our website.
LPL To Go is still available!
Although we are now open for browsing at certain times of day, LPL To Go is still available for hold pick-up. Simply call the Lending desk at (207) 513-3134 when you arrive and staff will check out your items and meet you at the Pine Street door.
