  • No More Midday Closures! — Starting August 16th, the library will return to normal summer operating hours.
    • Monday – Thursday: 10 am – 7 pm
    • Friday: 10 am – 5 pm
    • Saturday: 10 am – 2 pm
  • Conference, study rooms, and Callahan Hall are once again available for reservations — Please contact lplreference@lewistonmaine.gov or call (207) 513 – 3135 to inquire further.
  • The Library is Hiring! — We are seeking an individual with excellent customer service, innovative program ideas, and a high level of technology skills for our next Part Time Children’s Library Technician. Duties include planning and presenting innovative and engaging programs and services for children from birth through middle school, creating book displays, and collaborating with community partners.

  • VIRTUAL Read ME Book Discussion“Mainely Power” by Matt Cost – August 17th from 12:30pm to 1:30pm

    Are you reading this year’s Read ME statewide summer reading selections? Would you like to discuss what you’re reading? If so, join LPL for this online book discussion of “Mainely Power,” Matt Cost’s mystery novel introducing Goff Langdon, a mystery bookstore owner who, with the help of a rambunctious dog and a motley group of human friends, investigates real-life cases in the coastal town of Brunswick, Maine.   • All You Can Game: Virtual Teen Gaming Night, August 18th @ 4:30pm — Try a little of everything as we test out a sampling of different games throughout the summer, including Among Us, Jackbox Games, and more. Hop on Discord for a new multiplayer game every other week, June through August.
  • Summer Book Sale! — For a limited time, books are 10 for $1 and AV items are 5 for $1. All VHS and cassette tapes are free. We have a wide variety of materials from which to choose, updated weekly.
  • 2021 Summer Reading is Finished — You can still turn in your summer reading passports until Friday, August 20th to enter the grand prize raffle drawings for all ages.

  • Take Me to the Moon: A Virtual Evening with NASA, September 9th @ 5:30 pm — NASA’s Artemis Project will send the first woman and first person of color to the moon! This exploration will also be the first of its kind as NASA works to establish sustainable exploration and prepare for missions to Mars. You won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to hear from NASA communication strategist and museum liaison, Patricia Moore, as she talks with us about the Artemis Project and all things outer space!
