What’s New?
  • Bikes for Books, between April 15th and May 31st. Kids in grades 1 through 8 will fill out a book review at the library. For every book review completed, a raffle ticket with their name will be entered into the drawing to win a bike. Kids can submit more than one book review. 
  • Read Around the World. Check out our newest display on the first floor of the library, featuring books in translation from over 20 different languages! 
  • Teen Poetry Month Display. April is National Poetry Month! Check out this display of young adult books of poetry & novels in verse in the 2nd floor Teen Room, or browse our Teen Reads book list.
  • The Library will be CLOSED on Monday, April 17th in observance of Patriot’s Day.

 

This Week @ LPL
  • Kids Book Club: Maxi’s Secrets, Tuesday, April 11th at 4pm. Join us in the Children’s department for a kids book club featuring this year’s Lewiston/Auburn Read: Maxi’s Secrets by Lynn Plourde.
  • Youth Trading Card Game Club, Thursday, April 13th at 3:30pm. Games include Pokémon, Magic: the Gathering, and more! Library staff and volunteers will be available to teach new players and coach developing ones. 

 

Next Week @ LPL
  • Predators: The Balance of Nature, Tuesday, April 18th at 2pm. Join the Library, Chewonki, and the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission for an in-person presentation on predators and their role in nature. This event will include live animals.
  • Crafting Circle, Wednesday, April 19th at 4:30pm. Have a craft you started that is now collecting dust? Ever admired a craft and wondered if anyone could teach it to you? Want a second opinion on a template or a crafting kit? Lewiston Public Library is hosting a crafting circle for people to come and bring a craft to work on.
  • Great Falls Forum, Thursday, April 20th at 12pm. In her Great Falls Forum talk, Andrea Berry, Executive Director of the Wild Seed Project, will discuss the “how-to’s” of conservation through community, including tangible actions that everyone can take in order to reestablish resilient landscapes in the places we live, work, and play.

 

Mark Your Calendar
  • Home Preserving Workshop, Monday, May 8th at 4pm. This hands-on food preservation workshop teaches you the basic steps for canning.
