What’s New? 
  • Banned Books Display. For the first two weeks of October, we are featuring many of the books that have been challenged or banned in recent years. Each book has an insert explaining why it was banned.
  • Halloween Staff Picks for Teens. Halloween is around the corner and what could be better than enjoying a creepy book to fit the mood? Come check out our spooky staff recommendations display in the Teen Room!
  • National Hispanic Heritage Month Display in Children’s Room. We have a display in the Children’s Departments featuring books in Spanish, as well as books about Latin American culture, history, and the accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
  • Watch our Great Falls Forum Talk from September. During this talk, Cara Valentino, CEO & President, and Brandon Hotham MPH, Chief Client Experience Officer will be discussing the Dempsey Center Model of Care and the importance of cancer support for all of Maine.
  • Window Replacement in Progress. We are in the process of having some windows replaced on the upper floors of our building. Please be cautious when you enter and exit the library.

 

Next Week @ LPL
  • Rock Painting for Kids, Wednesday, October 18th at 3pm. Kids are invited to decorate one rock each during this program in the LPL Children’s Department.
  • Crafting Circle, Wednesday, October 18th at 5pm. Have you been patiently waiting for the return of Lewiston Public Library’s crafting circle? Well, wait no more. It’s finally back!
  • Great Falls Forum, Thursday, October 19th at 12pm. “We Can Get There From Here, Because We Used To.” During this presentation, Jonathan LaBonte will give an overview of the potential future of transportation in the Lewiston-Auburn region, with highlights on how the system initially grew during the early development of the two cities.
