Summer Scares: 2-Sentence Horror Story Contest!
Finish out the summer season by participating in the Lewiston Public Library’s – Summer Scares: 2-Sentence Horror Story Contest for all ages!
Participants can submit their 2-sentence horror stories any time that the library is open, beginning Monday August 11 until Saturday August 23.
Submissions will be displayed in the library August 25-30 so that library visitors can vote for the best submission in each age group, Children, Teens, and Adults.
This contest is a program inspired by Summer Scares, a resource for libraries to create horror-themed programming, produced by the Horror Writers Association, in partnership with Booklist, iRead, NoveList, and Book Riot.
The winners of this contest will receive horror books as prizes. The prize titles for children are Eerie Tales from the School of Screams by Graham Annable, Ravenous Things by Derrick Chow, and Hide and Seeker by Daka Hermon.
Teens could win Don’t Let the Forest In by CG Drews, Th Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White, and Frankenstein by Junji Ito.
The adult titles are Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke and Other Misfortunes by Eric LaRocca, Reprieve by James Han Mattson, and The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling.
First place winners in each category will receive all three titles for their age group, and three runner ups will be selected from each category to pick from the selections on a first come first serve basis.
Each floor of the library will provide space for those interested in participating to work on their stories, and participants may submit physical copies of their submissions or email them to the lplcirc@lewistonmaine.gov.
