ILAP’s Portrait Project: The Changing Face of Maine

This event is past.

  • Sep 25, 2018

The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project and photographer Molly Haley have partnered to bring the faces of Maine immigrants to light in this project, which debuted at CeleSoirée 2017 and will be on exhibit at Lisbon Street businesses as part of Museum L-A’s Becoming American project throughout Lewiston and Auburn from September to early November.

Together, they hope you see the strength, openness, determination and love in these faces that epitomize America’s immigrant population. Each of these amazing individuals has journeyed through many experiences to arrive at their life here. They want what we all want- a safe place to raise their families, a good job and community. We may differ in our place of origin, but humanity is our great commonality.

Join ILAP at the Lewiston Public Library on Tuesday, September 25 at 3 pm for a presentation featuring ILAP Lewiston attorney Alice Kopij. This project is fueled by community partners Lewiston Public Library and Casco Bay frames, and the beautiful spirit of those who sat for the portraits. This free, public program will take place in the Library’s Callahan Hall. For more information, please contact Loretta Prescott, ILAP Development Director, at (207) 699-4407.
