For the past 75 years the Dark Knight has been fighting crime in Gotham City through comics, television shows, and movies. Since his first appearance in 1939, Batman has become a comic book icon to rival the popularity of Superman. Over the years he has been portrayed in a number of different ways, from the camp comedy of the television show in the 60’s to the dark realism of the recent Christopher Nolan directed films. Join the Lewiston Public Library as we celebrate 75 years of the caped crusader striking fear into the hearts of criminals everywhere. A family-friendly Batman film will be shown as well as several bat-inspired crafts in Callahan Hall on Wednesday, July 23 beginning at 4 p.m. The first 35 kids present will receive a Batman goodie bag!
