The Friends of the Lewiston Public Library are excited to announce that they will be hosting a book sale at the Lewiston Public Library on Saturday, December 4. The event will be held in Callahan Hall and will run from 10:30am-3pm, preceded by the Friends annual meeting at 10am. There will be a large selection of fiction and nonfiction items for all ages including audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs.

Payment must be in the form of cash or check only.

The pricing is a fill-a-bag method as follows:

  • $5 to fill a plastic bag provided by Shaw’s
  • $8 to fill your own standard size reusable shopping bag
  • $10 to purchase and fill a larger LPL logo bag

All proceeds from sales and donations are used to fund library programs, special events, and purchases not covered by the annual budget.

The Friends of LPL is a non-profit organization that assists the Library with facility, service, and resource development. For many years, the Friends have enthusiastically supported programming at the Library (helping, for example, launch what we now know as LA Arts). More recently, Friends contributions have been even more tangible. In 1995, members of the Friends successfully lobbied the Lewiston City Council to expand the Library facility. A year later, the Friends initiated a capital campaign that resulted in $600,000 in gifts from more than 400 individuals, businesses, and foundations, enough to complete the final expansion of the Library and to secure the furniture and equipment necessary for a state-of-the-art facility.
