Join us for the pilot season of the Lewiston Public Library’s new Queer Nonfiction Book Club.  This group will meet monthly to discuss selected books on LGBTQIA+ history and topics in the library’s Couture Room from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on September 30th, October 28th, and November 18th.

At the September 30th meeting, the group will discuss A Queer History of the United States by Michael Bronski. This book provides a concise history of the nation as it pertains to queer identity, understanding, acceptance, and rights.

On October 28th, the group will discuss It Came From the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror edited by Joe Vallese.  This is a collection of twenty-five narrative essays by LGBTQIA+ authors reflecting on queerness in horror film.

On November 18th, the group will discuss Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H, which is the memoir of a queer Muslim immigrant’s coming of age as she drew inspiration from the Quran in search for belonging.

If you need help locating a copy of any of these titles, please contact our Lending Services Department at 513-3134 or visit the Lending Desk on the library’s first floor.
