Queer Nonfiction Book Club

Lewiston Public Library’s Queer Nonfiction Book Club is pleased to announce their summer 2026 selections and meeting dates. This group meets monthly on the last Tuesday of the month to discuss selected books on LGBTQIA+ history and topics in the library’s Couture Room from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The summer meeting dates are July 28th and August 25th.
At the July 28th meeting, the group will discuss Body Language: Writers on Identity, Physicality, and Making Space for Ourselves edited by Nichole Chung and Matt Ortile. This is a collection of essays from diverse authors exploring their unique ways of understanding and inhabiting their bodies. Essays in this collection cover a wide range of topics including race, disability, and desire.
On August 25th, the group will discuss The Black Unicorn: Poems by Audre Lorde. Lorde described herself as a black lesbian feminist warrior poet, and the poems in this collection contain themes of suppressed rage, intersectional feminism, and maternal identity.
