The State of Maine’s Loons
The Lewiston Public Library will host Maine Audubon staff to present their program entitled The State of Maine’s Loons on Wednesday, March 29th, from 11 am to 12 pm in Callahan Hall on the library’s third floor. This program is free and open to the public.
The Common Loon is one of Maine’s most iconic species for good reason. An inhabitant of clear, remote, northern lakes, this species is found in more lakes in Maine than in any other New England state. And for the last 35 years, Maine Audubon has coordinated an annual loon count utilizing the skills of more than 1000 volunteers. Learn from Maine Audubon conservation staff about loons in Maine and their efforts to protect them.
Maine Audubon works with children and adults every day to promote environmental literacy so that Mainers can become more informed and effective stewards of Maine’s wildlife and habitat.
The Lewiston Public Library is located downtown at 200 Lisbon Street at the corner of Pine Street and Lisbon Street. More information on Wednesday’s program is available by contacting the Lewiston Public Library at 513-3135 or LPLReference@lewistonmaine.gov.
