What’s New?
- 1,000 Paper Cranes for Lewiston. Linda Homer of Southwest Harbor organized volunteers to create one thousand paper cranes, known as a symbol of hope and healing. Strung from two hearts, the cranes were made by people across the state and beyond.
- Preserving Maine History, One Rustic Cabin at a Time. You can watch our Great Falls Forum presentation from November 16th on YouTube!
- New Displays in the Children’s Room. We have two new displays in the Children’s Room, one for Native American Heritage Month, and another for all things Dinosaurs!
This Week @ LPL
- NaNoWriMo Workshop for Teens, Thursday, November 28th at 4pm. Are you ready to start writing your first screenplay or novel? If so, make this your NaNoWriMo goal for 2023! Join us in the Teen Room to share your ideas and enthusiasm while working toward your self-established writing goal for the month.
- Dinovember Party! Wednesday, November 29th at 4:30pm. Kids and families are invited to engage in a variety of hands-on dinosaur-themed activities during this program in Callahan Hall. Some of the activities include a fossil dig, hatching dinosaurs from baking soda eggs, and decorating dinosaur lanterns to take home.
- Teen Yoga for Stress, Thursday, November 30th at 4:30pm. This series is designed to teach and support teens in skills they can use to manage stress and relax.
- Student Loan Basics, Thursday, November 30th at 5:30pm. This student loan presentation will cover the basics of student loans, repayment options, opportunities for forgiveness or cancellation based on disability, profession, or school misconduct, and the rights you have as a student loan borrower.
- Little Footprints Keychain Keepsake, Friday, December 1st at 10am. Caregivers, join us with your children, ages birth to 5 years, to create a Little Footprints Keychain Keepsake.
- Healing After Tragedy, Saturday, December 2nd at 10am. Nourish your mind, body, and heart in the wake of the Lewiston mass shootings. Join us for a community meal, moderated discussion, and musical performance.

- The Lost Art of Tea Leaf Reading, Monday, December 4th at 11am. Come learn the history of the art of divination by tea leaf reading in this fun and informative class! Enjoy a cup of custom-made herbal tea and see what symbols and messages your cup reveals to you.
- Healing After Tragedy, Tuesday, December 5th at 5:30pm. Nourish your mind, body, and heart in the wake of the Lewiston mass shootings. Join us for a community meal, moderated discussion, and musical performance.
- Sadie’s Fiber Arts Club, Wednesday, December 6th at 3:30pm. Kids will have the opportunity to create a hands-on fiber arts craft with local fiber artist, Sadie.
- Author Talk with Clif Travers, Wednesday, December 6th at 5:30pm. Author and visual artist Clif Travers will read from and discuss his book The Stones of Riverton, a collection of fictional stories based on gravestones in a small Maine town which spans a 200 year history of secrets and complex relationships. Book sale and signing to follow.
- Magic: the Gathering Club, Thursday, December 7th at 3pm. Come by after school to engage in all things Magic: the Gathering, from trading with other people to playing matches against others.
- Daniel Tiger’s Grrific Literacy Tour, Saturday, December 9th at 11am. Daniel is so excited to visit the Lewiston Public Library for an hour of creativity, book giveaways and literacy. Join us for storytime fun with children’s author, Lynn Plourde and playtime making masks. Daniel is certain he is going to have a Grriffic time and can’t wait to meet and take a photo with you!
