What’s New? 
  • Join the Library Board of Trustees. The Library is seeking 2 more local citizens to join the Board of Trustees. Apply online here.
  • Call for BookReach Volunteers. Do you have one hour a week to read to children in our community? BookReach volunteers bring weekly storytimes to children who may not have an opportunity for them on a regular basis. Our mission is to raise a community of readers by enriching the lives of young children through the pleasure of reading.
  • Window Replacement in Progress. We are in the process of having some windows replaced on the upper floors of our building. Please use the Pine St. entrance while this is in progress. 

 

This Week @ LPL
  • Community Recipe Swap, Monday, September 18th at 11am. Come and swap one of your favorite recipes with fellow community members. You can even bring up to three good condition cookbooks from home to trade with one of ours or with someone else.
  • Make Your Own Scarf for National Scarf Day, Wednesday, September 20th at 3pm. Join us for a silly story time followed by a scarf making craft in honor of National Scarf Day. 
  • Crafting Circle, Wednesday, September 20th at 5pm. Have you been patiently waiting for the return of our crafting circle? Well, wait no more. It’s finally back! Some crafting supplies will be available but individuals are strongly encouraged to bring their own projects and necessary supplies. 
  • Great Falls Forum, Thursday, September 21st at 12pm. During this talk, Cara Valentino, CEO & President, and Brandon Hotham MPH, Chief Client Experience Officer will be discussing the Dempsey Center Model of Care and the importance of cancer support for all of Maine. 

 

Next Week @ LPL
  • Home Preserving Workshop, Tuesday, September 26th at 3:30pm. Come learn the basics of canning your fall vegetables using the pressure-cooking canning method. Registration is required for this free event. Please bring your own potholder.
  • Art Walk, Friday, September 29th at 5pm. Art Walk LA fosters community and celebrates the vitality of Lewiston / Auburn by turning the downtown into a bustling arts district on the final Friday of each summer month, from May to September. Be sure to visit the library to see our featured artist!
