The 2023-2024 season of the Great Falls Forum kicks off on Thursday, September 21st, featuring Cara Valentino, CEO + President, and Brandon Hotham, MPH, Chief Client Experience Officer of the Dempsey Center. This free, public program will take place from 12 noon to 1 PM in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.

During this talk, Valentino and Hotham will be discussing the Dempsey Center Model of Care and the importance of cancer support for all of Maine. The Center’s programs provide a wide range of holistic support that address the physical, functional, social, and emotional well-being of people impacted by cancer. All services are provided at no cost to cancer patients, survivors, care partners, family members, and friends.

The Dempsey Center was founded by actor, Patrick Dempsey, in 2008 after his mother’s experience with cancer and as a way to give back to his hometown community of Lewiston, Maine. Today, the Dempsey Center has grown to two locations in Lewiston and South Portland, Maine, a hospitality home in Portland, Maine, and has adapted to providing robust support virtually via Dempsey Connects.

Cara Valentino is the CEO + President of the Dempsey Center. Cara is a certified executive coach and organizational development consultant, with more than 25 years of experience across the public, private, and social sectors. Her expertise includes partnering with teams to shape and bring their visions into reality. Cara moved to Maine from Washington, D.C. and has enjoyed exploring all that Maine has to offer since her move in 2021.

Brandon Hotham is the Chief Experience Officer at the Dempsey Center. In his role, Brandon uses his public health, healthcare, and analytical knowledge and experience to ensure the Dempsey Center offers purposeful programs and services to clients. A life-long Mainer, Brandon enjoys the seasons Maine offers and you can often find him outside, in the woods or by the water, spending time with his husband, family, friends and dogs.

Admission is free to all Forum events and reservations are only required if attending via Zoom. The Zoom link will be posted to the Library website and Facebook prior to the event. The onsite program is a bring-your-own, brown-bag lunch event.
